IMPORTANT UPDATES FOR 2024!

After listening to your feedback over the years, we are excited to announce the following changes to Movedon Soccer League for 2024:

1) No games scheduled on Denver Parks this year. Denver Parks and Recreation is in complete chaos. Their fields are very poorly maintained and they have proven incapable of providing even basic goals and field lining for safe adult soccer playing conditions. They discriminate against adult sports programs and  will not allow us to rent full sized fields in the same location for an 8 week league. We have moved all of our permits to well managed fields in the suburbs.

2) We are only accepting individual player registrations this year. Registering players may request their team assignment by entering the name of the team at registration. Teams must have a minimum of 15 paid players (including 5 females) by one week prior to the start of the season to be scheduled for the season. Teams who have less than 15 players and/or less than 5 women, will receive the necessary number of free agent players to complete the required minimum. Unfilled teams a week prior to the start of the season may be combined with another team. The league will honor all friend and group requests to play on the same team in the order paid registration is received. Register early and instruct all players to enter the same team name to play together on a preferred team.

3) Teams must have a minimum of 15 registered and paid players by the first game of the season. There is no maximum team player cap. Each team is required to have 5 female players. Teams may decide how many women to play for any scheduled game but at least one female must be on the field to avoid a forfeit. In the event of a forfeit, the opposing team is granted the win and the game continues as scheduled with referees officiating as normal. Players divide up to even out the competition.

4) The league is providing new jerseys to each player with their paid registration. Jerseys will have a number on the back and each team will have the same color. Indicate your size (unisex) at registration checkout. Jerseys will be delivered to the field at the first game of the season. Multiple jerseys will be available in each size.

5) We're increasing referee pay and experience level again!

6) Creating more fun on the pitch!

Official League Rules

General Information

  1. The League Director shall act upon any and all situations not covered explicitly in these rules.  All decisions will be final.

  2. Movedon Soccer League offers Soccer Programs for recreational enjoyment. Movedon Soccer League is the sole governing body of this program and is not affiliated with any state or national clubs or organizations.

  3. Movedon Soccer League reserves the right to expel any player or team from the league for reasons of conduct, failure to observe rules, regulations, and procedures. Written notification of such actions will be provided to the individual and/or team manager.

  4. The current FIFA Laws of the Game with the amendments included within this document will be the rules of competition for all leagues. All players are responsible for knowing the rules.

  5. The game shall be played between two teams of 11 Coed players. Teams must have a minimum of 15 registered and paid players by the first game of the season. Each team is required to have 5 female players. Teams may decide how many women to play for any scheduled game but at least one female must be on the field to avoid a forfeit. In the event of a forfeit, the opposing team is granted the win and the game continues as scheduled with referees officiating as normal. Players may divide up to even out the competition if they choose.

  6. It is essential that the necessary safety rules are followed at all times. Players must keep in mind that this is a recreational sports activity, where physical contact and injury can occur. Good sportsmanship should be the goal of all players.

Inclement Weather & Rescheduled Games:

MSL intends to play all games as scheduled. For pre-existing bad weather, cancellation decisions will be made as soon as the field venue determines field status. In the event that inclement weather cancels games.

  1. All Players and Captains will be notified through the league communication system. Each player must have their mobile phone and email registered with the league to receive weather and safety updates.

  2. Games that are called due to lightning or other unsafe playing conditions will be played or called at the discretion of the center referee. For weather that develops during a started game, the referee may suspend play and direct players to their cars for a 10 minute waiting period to determine if conditions will improve to acceptable playing conditions.  The game clock continues to run during the waiting time. DO NOT leave the park during a weather waiting period. If the game is restarted and your team cannot field a team, the game will be awarded as a forfeit to the opposing team.

  3. If a game is called prior to half time, the game will be rescheduled and no score will be entered until the rescheduled game.  If a game is called after one half of the game has been completed, the score at the time the game was called will be recorded as the official score and the game will not be rescheduled.

League Schedules:

  1. A season schedule will be published to the website about a week prior to the start of each season. Captains and players will be notified through the league communication system.

  2. If your team is unable to field a full team, notify the League Director at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled game. MAKE SURE TO SEND ALL REMAINING PLAYERS WHO CAN ATTEND THE GAME TO THE GAME AS SCHEDULED. The game will be awarded as a forfeit win to the opposing team but the game will continue to be played and officiated by the referees. When the players from both teams arrive at the field, they may divide up to provide more even competition for the scrimmage game. Everyone pays for a full season of games, field rentals are paid months in advance, referees are scheduled weeks prior to each game - DO NOT NO SHOW WHEN YOU DO NOT HAVE A FULL TEAM.

  3. Make-up games may be scheduled at any time. Schedules may change due to park conflicts, weather, or many other reasons. Check your team schedule prior to game day for any updates. Players and Captains will be notified of changes through the league communication system.

Registration Process and Fees

  1. MLS is currently ONLY REGISTERING INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS. All players must be registered and paid through the website prior to joining any scheduled game.

  2. No refunds will be given for team changes required to fill a team. The league will honor all friend and group requests to play on the same team in the order paid registration is received. In some cases it may not be possible to accommodate all friend playing requests. We recommend registering as early as possible and instructing all players to enter the same team name to improve the chances of playing together on a preferred team.

  3. A Team Captain may volunteer to lead any team and instruct their players to register with that team name to play together. Team rosters are unlimited but we recommend keeping the players to a reasonable amount so that everyone receives sufficient playing time. The league is not responsible for individual players not receiving enough playing time if they choose to participate on a team with a large player roster.

  4. Individual players may register as a Free Agent by selecting Free Agent for team name at registration. A week prior to the start of the season, all Free Agent players will be assigned to a team and notified of their Captain.

  5. Players may register for multiple leagues and multiple teams within the same league, however, they must choose only one team to play on for Playoff games. Available players from other teams, may play as a substitute on teams that are short players but ALL PLAYERS MUST BE REGISTERED AND PAID FOR THE SEASON BEFORE PLAYING ANY GAME. Drop in fees for single games are available for guests/visitors but they must register at the website before entering the field due to insurance and field permit requirements.

  6. MSL DOES NOT PROVIDE REFUNDS FOR PLAYER FEES FOR ANY REASON. If you encounter an injury and are unable to play the remaining games of a season, contact the league for a credit for a future league when you are able to return to the pitch.
